UK Calls in Russian Ambassador After Missile Hits Kyiv British Council
"Putin’s strikes last night killed civilians, destroyed homes and damaged buildings, including the British Council and EU Delegation in Kyiv," UK Foreign Minister David Lammy declared in a post on the social media platform X.
He emphasized, "We have summoned the Russian Ambassador. The killing and destruction must stop."
Ukrainian officials report that at least 14 individuals, including three children, lost their lives, and 48 others were wounded during the early Thursday assault on Kyiv.
The Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office confirmed the impact of the strike was felt across eight districts: Darnytskyi, Dniprovskyi, Solomyanskyi, Shevchenkivskyi, Holosiivskyi, Obolonskyi, Svyatoshynskyi, and Desnyanskyi.
In the Darnytskyi district alone, a section of a five-story residential building was demolished. Emergency responders are actively conducting search and rescue efforts for people potentially trapped beneath the debris. The prosecutor’s office also reported shattered windows in surrounding high-rise buildings, damaged vehicles, and destruction to private homes.
