Kenya Floods Claim 62 Lives
Authorities reported that the casualties include 46 men, eight women, and eight children, while emergency teams persist in their rescue missions and in evaluating the impact of the floods across various parts of the nation.
Nairobi bears the brunt of the tragedy, with 33 deaths documented in the capital after days of relentless rainfall that has inundated streets, residences, and businesses in multiple neighborhoods.
Other areas have also reported fatalities due to flooding. Officials stated that the Eastern region has registered 17 deaths, and the Rift Valley region has seen seven.
Additionally, two deaths occurred in Nyanza, two along the coastline, and one in the Central region.
The Interior Ministry indicated that government agencies and emergency personnel are actively operating in affected zones to support displaced families and coordinate rescue and relief efforts.
Floodwaters have disrupted thousands of homes and destroyed infrastructure, including residences and roads, across several counties, compelling some families to relocate to safer locations.
